Disney's Magic Kingdom, Orlando

Travel distance/time from Florida Delight (16.7 miles: 28  minutes)

Walt Disney World Resort is the world’s largest theme park featuring 4 separate major theme parks which are Disney's Magic Kingdom, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney's Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios as well as two water parks.

Disney World in Florida is the flagship of the worldwide Disney theme park empire and is the most visited resort in the world.

Magic Kingdom was the first of the parks to open and it is here that you will find a land of fairy tales and Disney characters including the iconic Cinderella's Castle which looks quite magical when illuminated by the evening firework display which is a must see for many visitors to Orlando.

Magic Kingdom tends to be the Disney park that most people make a point of visiting when they are in Orlando as it is the one where you will find the characters such as Mickey and Minnie.

We have visited all four of the Disney parks in Orlando as two adults. In terms of what we enjoyed we definitely preferred Animal Kingom and Hollywood Studios over Magic Kingdom. However, if we were visiting with young children I would imagine they would love Magic Kingdom.

We did make the mistake of leaving about 30 minutes before the park closed, and didn't stay to watch the parade and even then the queue for the monorail to take everyone back to the car park was terrible. I think we must have waited in line for about an hour before we got on to the monorail.

The rides are some of the real Disney classics such as Pirates of the Caribbean and It's a Small World but there are a lot of rides there that will appeal to a lot of people, young and old.
