Exploring Tampa Riverwalk:

Tampa’s Riverwalk has quickly become one of our favourite places to unwind, explore, and soak up the Florida sunshine. We’ve had the pleasure of visiting twice—once with our son and once with friends—and each time offered its own unique blend of relaxation, discovery, and delicious food.

A Stroll with a View
Stretching along the Hillsborough River, the Tampa Riverwalk is a vibrant 2.6-mile path that connects some of the city’s best cultural, culinary, and recreational spots. Whether you’re walking, biking, or cruising along the water, there’s always something to catch your eye—from public art installations to the gentle sway of boats in the marina.

Sparkman Wharf: Drinks with a View
On both visits, we made a point to stop at Sparkman Wharf, a lively outdoor space nestled along the Garrison Channel. With its colorful shipping container eateries, lush lawn, and communal seating, it’s the perfect place to relax. We especially loved sitting out in the open-air area near the cruise ship terminal, sipping drinks and watching the world go by. The atmosphere is always buzzing, yet laid-back—ideal for both family time and catching up with friends.

Lunch at Ulele: A November Highlight
During our November 2024 trip with friends, we enjoyed a memorable lunch at Ulele, a stunning restaurant that celebrates native-inspired cuisine. Located right on the Riverwalk, Ulele’s outdoor seating offers beautiful views of the river, and the food was just as impressive as the setting. From the barbacoa-grilled dishes to the house-brewed beers, everything was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavour. It was one of those meals you talk about long after the plates are cleared.

Armature Works: Deckchairs and Downtown Vibes
When we visited with our son, we spent time at Armature Works, a beautifully restored warehouse turned food hall and community hub. We grabbed some snacks and found ourselves lounging in the deckchairs outside, soaking in the river views and the laid-back energy of the space. It’s a great spot for families—plenty of open space, casual dining options, and a welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger.

Cruising the River: Pirate Water Taxi
Both times, we hopped aboard the Pirate Water Taxi for a one-way trip from Armature Works. It’s such a fun and scenic way to see the city from the water, with stops all along the Riverwalk. The ride gave us a fresh perspective on the skyline and let us rest our feet while still enjoying the sights.

Our day trips to Tampa's River Walk have only been with adults. However if you are thinking about a visit with children here are some ideas for a day's itineray with family friendly activities. So many things to choose from down by Tampa's River Walk that you may want to go again!
